Dark Dressers: Julia Fom
March 18, 2015
Julia Fom is the creative director and designer of the brand Sensorium, based in Krasnodar, Russia.
What does a typical day in the life of Julia involve?
Every day is interesting in its own way. Art, music, fashion, people – you never know in advance what the new day will bring to you. Each day is like a new experience.
Which are your wardrobe staples and why?
You know there are words “Every day is like a fashion show and the world is your runway,” I would paraphrase “Every day is like a dark fashion show …” The black leather jacket, black longsleeve, black leather pants, black shoes, steel and leather rings – so begins my day.
What’s your favourite item in your closet?
My favorite item is the leather vest by Sandrine Philippe, which I bought in Paris in her showroom, a few items of my own brand Sensorium. I also love rings, especially black leather rings by Russian designer Tseva. And of course my favorite white leather boots by Officine Creative.
How would you describe your personal style?
Minimalism, individuality, all in black.
Where do you shop?
There are a lot of places where you can find interesting clothes. But lately, I get dressed in my own showroom.
Your style icons?
The style is a question of individuality… I am inspired by all icons of individuality!
Two most important moments that influenced your style?
In my hometown there is a store called Le Graal. My good friends opened it, after going there a few years ago, my life has changed, and accordingly, my style too. I thank them for that! Dark style is not just clothes, it’s way of life for me now! And also, I have been in Paris last year, this trip inspired me to do something by myself in fashion, art.
