Dark Dressers: Viola Von Hell
August 1, 2014
Viola Von Hell is a tattooist and co founder of Electric Tattoo parlour: The Ten Bells, in Rome. Quite frankly she could possibly be our favourite dark dresser to date, Floriana Serani catches up with Viola below.
What does a typical day in the life of Viola involve?
I try to make my days begin with smiling, being grateful for life, practicing yoga, getting ready to tattoo and obviously fueled by a massive amount of coffee.
Which are your wardrobe staples and why?
There are so many things I can’t do without but, certainly, right now, what defines me the most is a pair of Doc. martens boots and black outfits, alternated sometimes by white t-shirts.
What’s your favourite item in your closet?
That would be a Comme Des Garçons jacket that I bought in NY after being kicked out of the flat I rented. It’s a funny story which lead me to get the chance to buy that jacket to make myself feel better.
How would you describe your personal style ?
It’s kinda hard to describe because it’s always been like that, I always went for black outfits also when the trend wasn’t as popular, I appreciate irregular cut clothes and mixing up vintage clothes with modern pieces. I love large bags where I can store everything I need
Where do you shop?
I enjoy shopping wherever I get the chance: it might be a high-fashion boutique or a flea market, what’s important to me is that the piece I go for is unique and I feel it mine.
Your style icons?
Audrey Hepburn, Debbie Harry, The Ramones, Yohji Yamamoto and Vivienne Westwood.
Two most important moments that influenced your style?
One of them would be my first trip to Tokyo, for the brand new approach to fashion I experienced there; where the asian traditions and modern fashion manage to blend perfectly.
The second onev will be the first time I stepped into a squat.
