Ok so I admit, you already know we are going to praise KTZ here. It’s not like hell froze over yesterday and suddenly rainbows and unicorns clouded dark style, but I will sincerely say this. The KTZ SS15 collection was possibly their best menswear collection to date.

The main factor? Thought. It’s quite obvious that so much effort went into this collection to maintain the maximum substance of the concept and vision, and well, when detail is adhered to, you get fantastic results.

The SS15 collection was based around Apollo, and KTZ went all out to make sure this was as spot on as possible. The accuracy and detail of the figures and scenes taken from ancient pottery was simply beautiful, alongside what seemed to be a strongly purposeful casting to make sure all models looked like Apollo. It created a very warlike look, with features that we typically associate with ancient Greeks and Romans.

More obvious homages to Apollo were obviously shown in the headwear and occasional leather shields and armour that appeared on the catwalk.

It was great to see that much substance come out of an essentially ‘dark style’ collection. Unfortunately too many times we see symbolism and aesthetics that don’t make any sense to those of us that know the history or are passionate about this aesthetic. The KTZ SS15 collection truly delivered both in style and context and got the whole Stylenoir team truly excited for the release of this season.
