There hasn’t been much for us during London Collections: Men Spring Summer 2017 so far. So we were excited to see Matthew Miller yet again creating an aesthetic that we absolutely love.
Miller’s SS17 collection ‘Tempest’ looks at inspiration from early skinhead culture. A well as re-imagining the bleach denim and cut of the culture, Miller has re-printed “A Study of Clouds 1871” by British romantic John Constable. The design appears on multiple garments.
One of the most beautiful touches of the collection are the pin badges. Perhaps at first glance they just look part of the punk aesthetic. But look closer and you’ll see trapped butterflies, suspended in a state of taxidermy. Miller states these “worn as badges signify the fragility of beauty”.
I brilliantly thought out collection, with a particular romanticism of the intricacies of skinhead and punk culture.
